dc.description.abstractThe design concept and the resistance performance of a trimaran is discussed. The main hull is designed based on the semi-planing hull form with bulbous bow and the side hull is designed based on wigley hull form which is modified using Lackenby method. A series of model test was carried out in the towing tank to investigate the effect of the longitudinal positon of side hull on the resistance characteristics. The result shows that the minimum resistance is measure when the wave systems between main hull and side hull are cancelled out by each other. It means that bow of side hull is located at the trough of bow wave systems of main hull. This result is consistent with the CFD result.-
