dc.description.abstract | This paper presents the ship design data management system based on STEP AP218 for the selective query and visualization of the ship design data. The key aspect of the proposed system is to query the ship design data using STEP AP218 information. To this end, this paper presents how to: i) store the ship design data which conforms to STEP AP218 into the STEP database, ii) visualize the ship design data by integrating the geometric modeling kernel and STEP database, and iii) query the ship design data based an STEP AP218 schema. The commercial STEP based database, EDM, was used for storing the ship design data which conforms to STEP AP218 into the STEP database. Visualization is classified by 2D and 3D visualization. In 2D visualization, the 2D engineering drawing that is widely used to comprehend the ship structure at the shipyards is displayed. In 3D visualization, classification structure which complies with the ship structure is shown and the whole part or the partial part corresponding to each node of the classification structure is visualized. The data items to be queried are defined and the query schemas based an EXPRESS- X are defined for querying the ship design data based an STEP AP218 schema. The data items to be queried are composed of general properties of the ship, plate information, stiffener information, cross section information and BOM information. The query is carried out for the entities of a mid-ship part of a ship. | - |
