dc.description.abstract | The effects on the hydroelastic response of Very Large Floating Structure(VLFS) by three dimensional sea-bottom topography are investigated experimentally and numerically. Finite element method based on the variational principle is used in fluid domain in the scope of potential flow theory. Floating structure is modeled as a thin plate with uniform stiffness. The hydroelastic responses of the plate are analyzed by the mode superposition method. As a mode function, the Legendre polynomial is adopted as the mode function instead of well-known free-free beam mode function. A triangular sectioned sea-bottom with finite width is considered in the experimental and numerical study. Comparisons between numerical results and experiment data show a reasonably good agreement. | - |
