dc.description.abstract | Slamming impact of a three-dimensional body is investigated by a set of model experiment. The test model used in an experimental study of Faltinsen and Chezhian (2005) is adopted. Five different drop heights and two trim conditions are applied to change the water-entry velocity and contact angle, respectively. A series of data for pressure, acceleration, force and vertical motion is obtained. In addition to that, water flow pattern is captured by a high speed camera at the slamming moment. From the series of model experiment, it is observed that the maximum pressure as well as force is proportional to the drop height at the moment of slamming impact. | - |
