dc.description.abstractA numerical investigation is made on the hydroelastic response of VLFS coupled with OWC-type breakwater. A floating OWC(Oscillating Water Column)-type breakwater is introduced in front of VLFS to reduce the hydroelastic response of VLFS. To analyze the hydroelastic response of VLFS with OWC-type breakwater the mathematical formulation is made in the scope of the classical potential theory. A finite element method based on the classical variational principle is adopted as numerical scheme for fluid domain. To obtain the elastic motion of VLFS the mode-superposition method is adopted. Reduction of hydroelastic response of VLFS is investigated for combinations of main parameters of OWC-type breakwater such as location and shape of OWC chamber, stiffness variation of VLFS and OWC chamber.-
