dc.description.abstract | A seakeeping model test of a newly developed deep-draft semi-submersible (DDS) is carried out to assess global motion performance in wind, wave and current environment. During the model test, large transverse vortex-induced motion (VIM) is measured in strong current environments. It is observed that VIMs are induced by the asymmetric and periodic vortex shedding in the rear of deep draft columns. In this paper, the VIM phenomena on a DDS model are investigated with the results of model experiments, and the effect of wave excited time varying particle velocity with uniform current speed on the VIM of the DDS is discussed. | - |
