dc.description.abstract | A numerical method for hydroelastic response of a vertical cylinder is developed. Finite element method is applied to fully nonlinear free surface flow problem in the scope of potential flow theory. Vertical cylinder is modelled by a simple beam structure and its elastic motion is analyzed by mode superposition method. Extreme wave is obtained by frequency-focused unidirectional wave. Wave elevation and wave moment are compared with the previous experiment and shows a good agreement. Investigations on characteristics of wave impact load are made by mode superpositoin method. | - |
