dc.description.abstractThe object of this paper is to introduce possible application areas of the ubiquitous computing technology to ships. As the ship should transport various cargos, crews and passengers safely in a given period of time, new services using the ubiquitous computing technology will be very helpful to provide both valuable addition to the ship and high quality of life to crews and passengers. The monitoring system for equipment failure and abnormal operation, monitoring system for fire prevention, and tracking and safety management system are introduced in the present study as new services employing ubiquitous computing technology with context awareness through devices collaboration-
