dc.description.abstract | A set of model experiments with a modified wigley hull has carried out for slamming impact. Four different water-entry velocities are considered. Pressures, accelerations and impact force are measured. Sampling rate for all measuring items is taken by 50kHz in order to catch the peak value at the slamming contact. Also pictures of wave shape at the slamming moment are obtained by a high speed camera. A simple mathematical formula for slamming impact force is suggested to extract exact impact force from measured force signals. From the present experiment, it was found that the maximum impact load occurred within 4 ms after touching the free surface of water. | - |
