dc.description.abstractIn order to perform various missions in the ocean AUVs absolutely need to have not only a positioning system but also a communication system. Currently used commercial acoustic positioning systems have a simple communication function to transmit sensor data and to receive external commands. Currently KORDI is developing a two-way USBL system with a communication function. Because of the limitation of power consumption resonant type acoustic transducers are considered as the better solution than non-resonant type for its transducers. This paper assumes that the resonant type transducers have a frequency response function which is the same as that of a 1-dof system. Estimation of communication performance is done using numerical simulation with varying three important simulation parameters: signal-to-noise ratio(SNR), Q-factor, and symbol rate over half-power bandwidth (Rs/BW). The results say that if Rs/BW < 1 and SNR > 10dB it is possible to transmit data without any error.-
