dc.description.abstractA test miner for deep-seabed manganese nodules, which aims at the use for near-shore sea-test, was designed and was being manufactured. In this paper, Mechanical system and hydraulic system of the test miner, which have just been constructed, are introduced and explained. Mechanical system is composed of hybrid pick-up device, track-type vehicle, nodules crusher, chassis structure, thrusters and etc. Hydraulic system is a closed loop hydraulic one with pressure compensated reservoir, underwater HPU and oil filled valve block. HPU and each hydraulic actuator were tested successfully in no loading condition. The performance of the test miner will be tested and confirmed in soil water tank and near-shore sea-test.-
