dc.description.abstractFor the collaborative product design and manufacturing environment among distributed cooperative companies, it is necessary to exchange CAD models including design intentions in order to cope with frequent engineering changes and interfacing problems among components coming from part suppliers. However, only the final geometry of the manufactured part is provided in the form of B-rep. format, because the design information including inter-relationships and dependencies are regarded as the company’s intellectual properties. To solve the problem of enterprise intellectual property while sharing the design information of product geometry, the top-down modeling approach is adopted. The skeleton model is used as the medium among collaborative partners. SNCM (Skeleton based Neutral Collaboration Model) is proposed in order to share the skeleton model among heterogeneous CAD systems. Finally, a collaborative product design process is proposed, implemented, and tested.-
