dc.description.abstractAcoustic waves are using as an unique communication medium in underwater, because radio waves which is used to general terrestrial wireless communications suffer from high attenuation in underwater. In underwater, acoustic waves has very poor communication environment such as very low propagation delay(1500 m/s), low data rates(several Kbps), multipath which is generated by reflection in the surface and the seafloor, scattering, and doppler effect etc. It's make too difficult to apply terrestrial wireless network protocols to underwater acoustic network. This paper suggests the modified MAC frame structure based on IEEE 802.11 MAC with DCF mode, that is the most representative network protocol of wireless LAN, for underwater acoustic communication network among mobile node. We show the result of performance analysis of suggested MAC frame using the performance modeling of IEEE 802.11 MAC for underwater acoustic network.-
