dc.description.abstract | The towing tank of MOERI/KORDI was built in 1978, and 30 years have past. Various tests have carried out including the tests for a model ship composed of resistance, self-propulsion, POW, and wake measurement. Most of operations were performed manually at the beginning, but many parts were replaced by automatic equipments. Until now the towing carriage has been operated manually, but a new automatic control system using PLC was added now. Since the change is only for a replacement of the user control panel, the internal drive system is preserved and the running performance of carriage is the same. Now the control and measurement for all equipments are integrated into one system. Usual tests for a model ship can be performed by a unmanned automation system. This automation will increase the consistency of test results and the utilization of towing tank, and will help human work. | - |
