dc.description.abstract | An experimental method with a back-bone model to investigate the wave induced loads on ships in rough environmental condition is established. The wave induced loads, especially vertical bending moments in head sea condition are important in safe hull designing point of view. Many studies have focused on estimating the vertical vending moments numerically and experimentally. In this paper, the 8 segmented back-bone model ship is made to measure the vertical bending moments and vertical shear forces. The model consists of 8 segmented hulls and a metal back-bone. A set of results from the model test are presented to investigate characteristics of vertical bending moments by the wave height and the ship speed. | - |
