dc.description.abstract | Abstract: This paper introduces the prediction method of a ship’s maneuverability using Computerized Planar Motion Carriage (CPMC) which was installed at Ocean Engineering Tank of MOERI. The major functions of CPMC for the prediction of a ship’s maneuverability are two. One is the function of carrying out the captive model tests. CPMC is able to impart an arbitrary horizontal motion to a model ship so that it can be used to carry out captive model tests more generally than PMM(Planar Motion Mechanism) or Rotating Arm System. The other is the function of auto-tracking mode. In this mode CPMC follows the free running model ship, and the maneuverability of a ship is obtained from free running model tests. The results of captive model test and free running model test are shown in this paper. | - |
