dc.description.abstract | In this paper, the statistical properties of ocean waves in the sea area of Ieo-do, Korea are examined based on 2004-2006's wave data from the Ieo-Do Ocean Reserch Station. And the freak wave's characteristics are investigated to supply basis information of freak wave. The - and - scatter diagrams are charted using the wave data. The waves range of (0.5m~1.0m), (3.0sec~3.5sec) is the highest range of wave appearance rate, is about 2.05 times of , is about 1.05 times of and 1.58 times of at Ieo-do sea area. It was compared that wave height and period of 5 individuation waves before and after freak wave occurrence. It was confirmed that the freak wave's wave steepness is very higher than wave steepness before and after freak wave. The wave height of freak wave is about 1.8~3.4 times of wave height just before freak wave occurrence. The wave height rapidly decreased after the freak wave occurrence | - |
