국내 유일한 MOERI 빙해수조에 대한 활용방안

Abstract

Recent exploration for natural resources and their transportation in the arctic or sub-arctic regions and the increase of traffic through the Northern Sea Route (NSR) have stimulated new structural concepts and ship designs. The Maritime Ocean Engineering Research Institute (MOERI) is building the first ice tank in Korea to meet the increasing research and development challenges and opportunities arising from the recent demands. This paper presents the main functions and specifications for MOERI ice model basin which will be completed in the middle of 2010. Using the ice model basin, several practical applications for ice performances evaluation of arctic class vessels and arctic platform basically and for arctic civil engineering, construction structure and material property are proposed.
