dc.description.abstract | A 6,000m class AUV is under development at MOERI. The principal mission of this AUV is exploring inactive thermal vent area. We will reproduce many technologies inherited from deep-sea ROV HEMIRE in the new AUV design, which are pressure compensated routing system, oil-filled BLDC motor, network computer control system etc. Still we need new technologies for the new AUV development. For example pressure compensated Lithium-ion battery pack, vector thruster system and precise attitude control techniques are those to be newly tried. In this paper, the preliminary design of the new AUV will be introduced such as sensor system, hull configuration, battery system, and thrust system. The new 6,000m depth class AUV is planned to be constructed until 2011. | - |
