dc.description.abstract | LTDA (Long Term Data Archiving) is an issue in digital engineering. Shipyards want to preserve the design data for a long period. However, application software such as a CAD system or the hardware as a PC, changes far shorter cycle than the data itself. It is better to use a standard format where the data specification is open to public and can be used by the next generation CAD system. In the shipbuilding industry, different CAD systems are used for different domain design work. We need to exchange data among these different CAD systems such as Tribon for hull structural design and PDMS for plant outfitting design. In this paper, we propose a method that uses “ISO 10303 – AP227: Process Plant Configuration” [11, 12] and ISO 15926 [16] to define the neutral format. The translation procedure can be divided into two phases. First, from Tribon to the neutral format, second, from the neutral format to PDMS. | - |
