In this paper, a new directional medium access control (DMAC) protocol for ad-hoc network is presented to reduce the latency. The proposed protocol is based on the two-sector antenna. The geometry of the route is close to the straight line connecting the source and the destination. This observation enables the intermediate node in the route to communicate with the previous-hop node and the next-hop node simultaneously. It is shown under mild assumptions that the end-to-end latency for the proposed protocol is smaller than the latency experienced by the direct source-destination communication. Deafness and hidden terminal problems due to the directivity of the antenna do not arise in the proposed protocol because all elements of the sectored antenna system are used and asymmetry of directivity does not exist during the RTS/CTS exchange. The proposed protocol may be useful for the end-to-end delay limited applications such as a fleet formed by the multiple AUVs or submarines, which uses acoustic wave for wireless communications. We also discuss possible extensions of the proposed protocol and an alternative scheme to obtain the same function as the proposed protocol using two-channels.-
