dc.description.abstractWith growing road congestion ashore it is inevitable that the sea will be used for linking countries and reducing the distance goods have to be transported on land. In linking among near countries, fleets of barge and tugs take large amount of sea transportation. In general, barge is not equipped with navigational system due to economical reason. Therefore, navigational data of tugs are used for the navigation of a fleet of barge and tugs. However, navigational data of a barge can be used for safer sea traffic. In this paper, two methods for estimating navigational data of a barge are suggested. These methods are based on simple geometrical relations among navigational data of a barge and tugs. Suggested methods are tested with real sea traffic data of a fleet of barge and tugs. Through the analysis on trajectory estimation results found with suggested methods, it was concluded that suggested methods could estimate a barge’s unknown trajectory reasonably. In addition, an idea for the design of a real-time monitoring and warning system for towing state based on suggested methods is also mentioned.-
