dc.description.abstractThe efficiency of OWC wave energy converter, whose pilot plant will be installed in Jeju, is estimated by 3-D experiment. A couple of orifices with different diameter determined by the precedent study are used to simulate the effect of turbine in a duct. The influence of wave frequencies and heights, tidal levels, and shapes of partitions in a pneumatic chamber is investigated. The energy conversion efficiency which is defined by the ratio between incident wave power to turbine power approximately ranges from 0.25 to 0.45 in operational wave conditions. It is concluded that a current design of OWC power plant optimizes shape parameters of the pneumatic chamber effectively, revealing high efficiency in wave energy conversion at primary target waves.-
