Abstract

In recent years, EBO (effects based operation) has become a new paradigm of warfare. EBO doctrine is quoted as “a process for obtaining a desired strategic outcome or effect on the enemy through the synergistic and cumulative application of the full range of military and nonmilitary capabilities at all levels of conflict\\\\' by Allen Batschelet. In a view point of naval warfare, large vessels equipped with cutting edge technology are root nodes for EBO since they have the ability to search, aim and attack at a long distance. So, these large warships are under close surveillance and may be main targets in early phase of war. In case of small crafts, they generally take specific missions such as preventing piracy, terrorism and illegal fishing. Though theses missions are less valuable than those of large warships in the view point of EBO, small crafts can be very useful nodes for EBO when they support a fleet effectively. In this paper, a conceptual design of a multi-purpose naval craft, which can keep the Flagship safe and supports a fleet more effectively, is proposed. This multi-purpose naval craft has numerous advantages. First, the craft can protect large vessels by carrying a specific device which deceives enemy’s surveillance systems with very similar signatures to large warship. Second, the craft can carry various equipments at its rear deck such as guns, missiles, torpedoes, mines, UUV and so forth as required. Finally, the craft is cheap and small but is flexible enough to meet the need of various operations on the shore.
