dc.description.abstract | This study is conducted to understand human ability to recognition depends on form and type of alarm used on the ship bridge alert system. A response time and accuracy is measured under the combined condition of three levels form of alarm (auditory icon, abstract sound, voice) and five levels type of alarm (a fire alarm, a collision alarm, an engine alarm, an electronic power alarm, a steering alarm) for 25 researchers who have an experience of ship aboard over a year. On the results of this experiment, the response time on the auditory icon and voice alarm is significantly shortened as compared with alarm using abstract sound. However, statistically significant difference of the response time is not discovered between them. In the case of the type of alert sounds, it is analyzed that the response time on the fire alarm is significantly shortened as compared with other four types of alarm. The results of this study can be used as a basic document for performance comparison per types of alert system currently using on the ship bridge and integrated ship bridge alert system currently discussing on the field of research on industry-university relation. | - |
