dc.description.abstractTo consider scale effect in free running model test, additional towing force need to be acted on model ship, of which propeller is rotated in propulsion point of real ship. In this paper, a propulsion support system (PSS) is newly developed by using servo motor and load cell. Servo motor, which is installed in CPMC(Computerized Planar Motion Carriage) is connected to wire, which is also connected to the load cell, which is installed in the center of gravity of model ship. PSS controls servo motor to keep the additional towing force in the load cell. To estimate the maneuverability of KCS in the propulsion point of real ship, free running model test is carried out by using PSS. The features of PSS and the results of free running model test are described.-
