dc.description.abstract | In this paper, efficient wave genertion numerical technique using a hybrid scheme is suggested. In the hybrid scheme, potential-based finite element method (FEM) and Navie-Stokes-based finite volume method (FVM) with volume-of-fluid(VOF) method are combined. We introduce a buffer zone for efficient wave-making and damping. In the buffer zone, the near field solution from FVM-VOF is gradually changed to the known incident wave from FEM. To verify the accuracy of developed numerical scheme, regular and irregular wave are simulated and compared with potential-based solutions. Using a frequency focusing method, an extreme wave is also simulated using developed hybrid scheme. Comparison shows good agreement between hybrid scheme and potential-based solutions. | - |
