dc.description.abstract | The main objective of this research activity is to measure the hydrodynamic force acting on the submerged body placed in the model cylinder tube. Several apparatus for fixing the model cylinder tube and submerged body were designed. For the measurement of hydrodynamic force and flow velocity in the tube, 6 component load cell and a number of one-hole pitot tubes were equipped. Test was conducted in the towing tank of Maritime&Ocean Engineering Research Institute/KORDI. Resistance, self propulsion, and pressure characteristics in the cylinder tube of underwater body were predicted in this test. These tests were also conducted when a back plate was attached at the end of cylinder tube, and test results show that the presence of a back plate slows down the flow velocity in the tube and affects pressure field in the tube to push the model submerged body forward of the tube. This tendency strengthens according to the area of open hole decrease. | - |
