dc.description.abstract | The motion of floodwater can affect that of a ship, when the ship contains the liquid freight or floodwater after damage. The floodwater has many flow phenomena because of the existence of free surface and finite depth bottom, such as the standing waves, resonant waves, and progressive waves in the flooded compartment. If the motion of a ship is nearly steady, the surface of floodwater can be treated as being quasi-static.(i.e. the free surface remains horizontally always) But if the motion of a ship behaves as transient motion or moves continuously due to incoming waves, the dynamics of floodwater and ship interact to each other, so the dynamics of floodwater should be analyzed. For this purpose, CFD is used sometimes but this is not the practical method because of its very low performance in computing time. This study suggests the effective and simplified floodwater dynamics for the flooding simulation. | - |
