dc.description.abstractGeographical Information System (GIS) is an integrated application system for the geographical objects. That consists of layers of spatial objects. The spatial object data include spatial position and attribute information. A GIS provides functions to simply deal with the spatial objects data and analyze them by querying and operating them. We investigate the possibility to use the GIS as one data provider and analyzer in production planning and management fields. In this study, works around a dock and a quay are taken into consideration for their GIS implementation. A Korean shipyard which is participating in our research work is applying to a test model for a GIS model in shipbuilding. The preliminary model will be explained.-
