dc.description.abstract | The model-ship correlation and extrapolation method are very important factors for the accurate powering performance prediction of full scale vessels, MOERI is planing to perform a series of geosim test in the towing tank to enhance the accuracy of existing extrapolation method. As a first stage, KVLCC and KCS were selected as the typical full-form low-speed and slender high-speed commercial vessels, respectively. Five different scaled model-ships for each hull form were manufactured and resistance test were performed. CFD computation were also performed for the corresponding scales. Resistance characteristics and form factor were analyzed based on the ITTC 1957 model-ship correlation line and ATTC friction line to investigate the scale effect on the form factor. Resistance coefficients and form factors with different friction line and different method will be presented. Also the resistance characteristics for full scale ship based on the so called 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional methods from different scaled model-ships will be compared. | - |
