dc.description.abstractThis study investigates wave induced responses of multi-body connected with link and damper. Modified equation of motion considering link connection and damper is solved in numerical analysis. Added mass & damping and wave forces are formulated from higher order boundary element method and equivalent spring-damper model for link connection is formulated using minimum energy principle. A two-body wave energy converter with VLCO(Variable Liquid Column Oscillator) and linked PTO(Power Takeoff) is analyzed in numerical example. Wave induced motions and resulting forces at connection are calculated. By analyzing the example body with varying damping ratio of PTO, the effect of damping on responses is investigated.-
