dc.description.abstract | Seafarers, cohabiting in a limited living space, are forming unique living behaviors. In other words, because seafarers are demanded to work in unity while on board and lead communal lives in a confined environment, it is expected that they are subject to high levels of stress. Also, the ship’s noise, shaking hull, and extremes of coldness, sweltering heat and humidity constantly harass the seafarers, who have little chance of interacting with their family and friends due to prolonged operations in the confined ocean. Therefore, seafarers belong to an occupational cluster and may be subject to severe stress. The purpose of this study is to conduct a fundamental investigation to understand the causes of seafarers’ stress while on board a ship and to find solutions to the problem through job stress and satisfaction tests. | - |
