dc.description.abstractIn order to prevent colliding accidents among ships, it is necessary to inform crewmembers of colliding situation and collision risks among ownship and traffic ships, effectively and quickly. In this paper a collision risk monitoring system (CRMS), is newly developed as an onboard navigational support system. Traffic information is collected through AIS. Directional collision risk of ownship and each collision risk of each traffic ship are real-timely estimated by using fuzzy algorithm. To evaluate the performance of CRMS, ship handling simulator experiments and field tests are carried out. A test-bed of CRMS is established as a Hand-held PC(smart pad) and simulator experiments are conducted to check into the difference of navigational difficulties between the case “with CRMS” and the case “without CRMS” on three pilots, who has different experience of pilot.stem (CRMS), is newly developed as an onboard navigational support system.
