dc.description.abstractWe extend the sparse channel estimation to the multi-element receiver array case where an additional sparsity of incidence angle is obtained. We parameterize the channel by time delay, Doppler shift, incidence angle, and complex amplitude of multipath components which are represented by the angle-delay-Doppler-spread function. In order to obtain a sparse solution of the channel estimation problem, we use the orthogonal matching pursuit algorithm (OMP) and demonstrate its applicability via experimental data gathered by a multi-element receiver array. The experiemental data analysis shows that the result of the sparse channel estimation coincides well with the channel estimate by the matched filter, and also that the signal reconstructed from the estimated channel parameters is very close to the measured signal. This proves that the estimated channel parameters are consistent with the channel measurement data and supports that the incidence angle also can be estimated using sparse estimation method.de of multipath components which are represented by the angle-delay-Doppler-spread function.
