dc.description.abstractFloating wave energy converters have been gradually constructed as a result of the easy establishment of wave farms, lower construction costs, and higher wave energy densities in deep water. Accordingly, it is important to design these floating structures for maximum reliability in extreme environments. In the present study, preliminary structural characteristics of a floating pendulum wave energy converter were investigated. Hydrodynamic characteristics such as wave force were applied to the structure as external forces. The commercial finite element method was used to predict structural behavior in response to wave-induced pressure. Structural analysis was conducted using a quasi-static approach.
