dc.description.abstractThis paper compares hydrodynamic responses of floating wind turbine structure with and without seabed earthquake excitation. Floating body equation is formulated with boundary element method (BEM) and convolution. Mooring line equation is derived using finite element method(FEM). The coupled responses are calculated by solving the BEM-FEM coupled equation. Moving boundary conditions are applied at anchors to describe earthquake excitation. A floating wind turbine structure moored with catenary chains is considered as a numerical example. Body motions and mooring line tensions of the example structure are calculated in wave and earthquake. By comparing the results with the case in wave only, the effect of earthquakes on hydrodynamic behavior is discussed.s derived using finite element method(FEM).
