dc.description.abstractThe effect of aspect ratio of the ellipsoidal cross section of a vortex generation cylinder was experimentally investigated for 1st energy transformation efficiency of vortex-induced vibration energy extraction device (VIVEED). While the previous study was performed on a circular cross section cylinder, there have been no studies about VIV energy devices on the ellipsoidal cross section cylinder. In this study, an experiment was performed for a reciprocal translational motion VIVEED. The reduced velocity and electrical resistance were also used as the experimental variables. The energy efficiency for ellipsoidal cross section was best at 0.44 of aspect ratio (width/length, b/a), and better at 0.3 - 0.5 of aspect ratio. It was verified that the efficiency of elliptic cross section was the much better than the circular one, and the energy efficiency at 0.44 of aspect ratio was best.e previous study was performed on a circular cross section cylinder, there have been no studies about VIV energy devices on the ellipsoidal cross section cylinder.
