dc.description.abstract | A deep-sea mining robot has received growing recognition for its development of plentiful marine mineral resources. Among these systems, a pick-up device is a core component because it actually undertakes to pick up manganese nodules. A pick-up device is mounted on the front of mining robot and collects mineral resources from the ocean floor. The conceptual design of pick-up device should consider the economical, technical and environmental aspects. Three types of pick-up system: mechanical, hydraulic and hybrid methods have been proposed so far. In this paper, hydraulic pick-up device development procedure for Pilot mining robot is introduced. For the design of hydraulic pick-up device Coanda nozzle effect is proposed.k-up device is mounted on the front of mining robot and collects mineral resources from the ocean floor.
