dc.description.abstractThe experimental procedure on the cavitation perfor-mance evaluation is established at the newly-built Large Cavitation Tunnel(LCT), Daejeon, Korea, through the comparative tests and correlation studies between the cavitation test for model propellers installed behind the ships in LCT and the full-scale measurement in the real sea for two prototype vessels comprising 4,400TEU and Sydney Express container carriers. The paper describes presents the cavitation observation and the hull-pressure measurement on model ship hulls, whose values are closely compared with the full-scale data, and emphasizes the need for the ship wake repro-duction with the fully-three-dimensional complete mod-el ship with a higher tunnel flow speed. At present, the direct comparison of the cavitation phe-nomena including the inception, the growth, the decay and implosion, between the model- and full-scale-data is very limited due to the lack of direct full-scale cavity observation.
