dc.description.abstractKRISO ice model basin was constructed in 2009 and it has been operating up to now as the only largest ice model basin in Korea. Model tests for offshore structures and ice-going vessels which are operated in arctic regions can be carried out in KRISO ice model basin. To estimate ice load and resistance accurately from the model test, model ice characteristics such as thickness, flexural strength, density, etc. should be generated and measured accurately. This paper describes some facility improvements and several measuring methods of the model ice characteristics. This paper shows the result from the several measurements, and some methods to give relatively accurate measuring results in KRISO ice model basin are suggested.t in KRISO ice model basin.
