Various numerical approaches have been developed for modeling acoustic phenomena in the oceans such as propagation, scattering, reverberation, and ambient noise. Among them ray tracing methods are used for estimating signals of high frequency waves. The recent needs for high-resolution sonar images lead us to use high-frequency sonar systems installed in towing vehicles or AUVs. When using such sonar systems the motion of acoustic transducers is inevitable, thus their core signal processing algorithms are related to compensation of the sonar motion. Recently, KRISO developed a program for estimating received signals at moving transducers. However, it can be applied for only passive sonars. This paper introduces an improved simulator written in MATLAB m-script for modeling active sonar signals. The simulator can also estimate received signals with moving targets as well as with moving transducers. Its performance is verified by comparing with known solutions and estimating Doppler frequencies. The results show that the simulator will be a useful tool for developing sonar systems in motion.cy waves.
