dc.description.abstract | Squat is an additional sinkage and trim of a ship caused by hydrodynamic force between the seabed and the bottom of a ship. In shallow waters, a manoeuvring ship can be affected by hydrodynamic force between the seabed and a ship significantly, hence she can experience attitude change during the manoeuvre. In this study, results of maneuvering captive model tests of KVLCC2 in shallow waters were analyzed in the view point of squat phenomenon. The model ship’s attitudes were analyzed with respect to various test conditions (speed, drift angles, rudder angles), to find the relationship between squat and manoeuvring characteristics of a ship.tly, hence she can experience attitude change during the manoeuvre.
