dc.description.abstract | Abstract: It is well known that manoeuvring a ship in shallow waters is more complex than that in deep water. To know more about the characteristics of a ship in shallow waters, theoretical study, model test, and CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) are commonly used, and those can be used to estimate the complexity of manoeuvring in shallow water. Although CFD results still seem to have a room for enhancement in the analysis of the flow in shallow water, CFD might be used as a supplement of model test because complex flows around a ship can be easily investigated with CFD. In this study, numerical static drift test for KVLCC2 in shallow waters were performed using the commercial code FLUENT. Calculation results were compared with captive model test results.
