dc.description.abstractThe present study considers bow-flare and stern slamming loads on a ultra-large containership. A 10,000TEU containership with six segments was used with the scale ratio of 1:60. The segments were connected by a U-shape steel backbone where a number of strain gauges were installed to measure structural responses. A number of force sensors were distributed on the bow-flare, stern, and deck areas in order to measure the temporal and spatial distribution of slamming load. Regular and irregular waves were considered including various ship speeds, heading angles, and wave heights. Based on the measured data, characteristics of the bow-flare and stern slamming loads are presented and discussed.a number of strain gauges were installed to measure structural responses.
