dc.description.abstractThe present study considers the water impact load of various 2D ship sections. Three different shapes &#8211 wedge, simplified bulbous bow, original bulbous bow - dropped to water and impact pressures and forces are measured by the sensors attahced on the sloped plane of the shapes. The drop velocity is evaluated from the measured acceleration and high-speed captured images. The pressures and forces measured from the drop of three different ship sections are compared. The original bulbous bow shape shows the largest impact load compared with the other shapes. The disturbed flow due to bulbous bow seems to generate high impact loads on bow-flare area.s attahced on the sloped plane of the shapes.
