dc.description.abstractOn 16 April 2014, sinking of the MV Sewol occurred at Maenggol channel of South Korea en route from Incheon to Jeju. The rescue team had serious difficulties on their initial rescue operation from the strong water current and murky underwater condition of the Maenggol channel. Crabster CR200, a six-legged seabed walking robot, was sent to Jindo on 21 April to support the rescue operations of the Central Disaster Countermeasure Headquarters. The CR200 was launched 13 times spending 15 hours and 36 minutes in the water during the 30 days staying in Jindo Island. The CR200 captured full images of sunken Sewol using the scanning sonar and identified the objects on the southern seabed of the sunken Sewol using its acoustic camera. This paper reports the activity of Crabster team during the 30 days staying in Jindo Island.er condition of the Maenggol channel.
