dc.description.abstractIn this study, Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion(OTEC) platforms are investigated by numerical and experimental method. A series of numerical calculations for octagon-shaped OTEC platforms were carried out. Several design parameters including platform length, draft, damper size, thickness were studied and optimized using numerical computations. To validate the performance of OTEC platform, model tests for the present OTEC platform were performed in Ocean Engineering Basin of KRISO. Two experimental models such as the OTEC platforms with and without damper were considered to investigate the performance of the designed damper. The motion responses of OTEC platforms are evaluated under regular and irregular wave conditions. platform length, draft, damper size, thickness were studied and optimized using numerical computations.
