dc.description.abstractAn experimental study is conducted to analyze the non-linear dynamic behaviour of the OTEC riser. An experimental model of a riser is excited with amplitudes and periods depending on current. It is vibrated with double frequency component of the excitation frequency of forced oscillation without current condition. This originates from the axial vibration of a riser. The riser with current is vibrated with the excitation frequency. This originates from the lateral vibration, which is caused by the curvature of the riser resulting from the strong current. The excitation frequency component has the largest value along the riser length. The response of the double or triple frequency component is also appeared. This originates from the wave propagation. The response of the hanged riser has small value for the material damping and bottom lumped weight at the bottom of riser.
