dc.description.abstract | In this paper, an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) was designed and fabricated to perform an experiment on the 200kW hybrid ocean thermal energy conversion. R245fa was used as the working fluid, and the temperatures of the heat source and heat sink were 75℃ and 5℃ respectively. The heat exchangers for evaporator and condenser were manufactured by Titanium and Oxynitride coating (SPCC) plates resistant to sea water corrosion, and the HOTEC cycle was designed for a gross power of 200kW. The HOTEC plant was installed in Seawater Utilization Plant Research Center in Gosung-gun, Gangwon-do, Korea. In order to analyze the performance of the HOTEC pilot plant, the experiment results were compared according to the temperature difference between heat source and heat sink. Based on the procedure of design, fabrication, operation, and demonstration record, the 200kW HOTEC plant can be considered to be applied as geo-ocean thermal energy conversion (GeOTEC) in where plenty of geothermal or ocean thermal resources exist.ink were 75℃ and 5℃ respectively.
